Katuka Development Trust in Uganda and B-Open Nordic in Sweden have signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to join forces in creating a company together called KATUKA – B-OPEN Uganda Ltd. The overall goal of this partnership is to find customers for sustainable coffee from Uganda in Europe but also to find funding and partnerships to move forward and create a new Coffee and Agricultural Value Chain Development Company in Uganda called KATUKA – B-OPEN Uganda Ltd.
Katuka Development Trust was founded in 2004 and have for some time now focused on working with coffee farmers in Uganda. Katuka was founded with the aim of collective marketing and sales of organic produced and fair traded coffee that should be sold to international markets. It is owned by 1250 farmers that join forces to sell quality coffee. Katuka work in close cooperation with Caritas Kampala who are the social services and economic development department of the Catholic Church in Kampala Archdiocese.
B-Open Nordic is a business consulting firm founded in 2004 that focus on management in knowledge driven businesses and international business development and we will be the extended arm for sales and marketing of African Fine Coffee from Uganda in Europe. KATUKA and B-OPEN are now working together finding right funding, financing and partnership for a Public and Private Partnership creating a new Agricultural Value Chain Development Company in Uganda called KATUKA – B-OPEN Uganda Ltd.
